Around January time I took a blood test, it came back showing that I had an underactive thyroid, I was just so happy because for about a year I have not been feeling myself, I’ve always been a strong person but I became week, my hair is always dead, I was gaining weight but I didn’t know why (gained over 15 pounds in a few months), I went on the internet and google under active thyroid symptoms and I had them all..

I was so excited I could be feeling back to my old self IF I was put on the pills for it, BUT my doctor said to me, i don’t want to start you on the pills because I want to be positive you have it, He send me for another blood test (around March it came back Negative!!!… I was not happy at all with that, and I did not start my pills.. a month later (in April) I requested another blood test, again, came back Negative……

I am just so sick of this, I KNOW I have an under active thyroid, I am not myself, I am so weak, and everything. I know for the past longer than a year I’ve been not myself, my life feels at stand still, believe it or not I’ve not been out the house for about a year from feeling so ill, everyday is a struggle, a thyroid can affect nearly everything in your body. I know once I go on the pills (If I do) I will feel sooooo much better, but he won’t start me because the last two tests came back negative, but one also came back positive and if I didn’t have it how did it show up.

What can I do to make him change his mind, any other tests I can take. What can I say to him to understand how I feel.

Thank you for anyone who answers, I really do appreciate it.

Hi Everyone,

I really need somebodys help please! I have all the symptoms of an underactive thyroid:

Extreme being sensitive to cold,
extreme constipation,
depression,
tiredness,
slowness in body and mind,
muscle aches and weakness,
muscle cramps,
dry and scaly skin,
brittle hair and nails,
heavy or irregular periods
Extreme weight gain.

I have had tests in the past and been told I have a slight small goiter in my neck but my tests show as "normal" and I do have a risk of having underactive thyroid in the future but not now!

I have recently been diagnosed with Reynauds Disease as I am extremely sensitive to the cold and get very purple hands and feet that turn white and blue and red!

I have looked online and it says that a likely cause for Raynauds disease is an Underactive Thyroid!!

I have gained so much weight over the years, for example I have gained a stone since July with no change in my diet at all and I walk alot everyday because I can’t drive and I do eat a healthy diet

I am adamant I have an underactive thyroid as i have every symptom! even Raynauds disease! and I need to know how am I going to prove to the Doctor I do or to run more thorough tests! I have been told I have antibodies positive in my thyroid just normal in my thyroid apparently.

My test results were on: ,
24.11.09 - TSH 2.34miU/L & Free T4 14.1pmol/L
08.10.2009 - TSH 1.76miU/L with Free T4 13.1pmol/L

I don’t know what these mean! but can please somebody give any advice I can’t take gaining weight anymore and suffering all these symptoms all the time and no one listening!

Sorry for ranting and rambling on!

Thank you! xx

A friend of mine have part of her thyroid being removed several years ago (not sure exactly why), and logically she’s having hypothyroidism problem currently, although the doctor gave her medicine to meet the requirement.
Anyone know how to fix this problem?
Thanks.
Oh yes, she’s been having bad mood and seems to forget simple things.
She is also gaining weight, but unfortunately no none seem to be able to stop her from consuming hi-fat/cholesterol food.
Is this common in such problem?

I have a VERY LOW underactive thyroid (according to my doctor it is terribly low).

I have really bad symptoms like everything with me is wrong, my hair falls out like no tomorrow, just chunks at a time, and its like dead straw hair. my muscles are super weak, if I write two sentences my arms will start to ache, I recently gained 30 pounds (when I was eating less and exercising more, my doctor says its cause my metabolism is so slow from my underactive thyroid thats why I am gaining weight), I get really bad shortness in breathe, pale, poor memory, swollen hands and feet, Hoarseness or deepening of the voice, brittle thin nails, bad immune system, heavy periods, joint pain, EVERYTHING! it causes soo many problems, ecspecially with the horsey throat and the dry hair falling out soo much, weight gain, swollen fingers and muscle soreness there my main big problems..
they are truly ruining my life, I am starting my meds next week, are my symptoms going to gradually go away (I really hope so) or am I going to have them all my life. Pleaseee people help me and answer me my mind is baffled with these questions, I need a clear answers.

Thank you soo much, GOD BLESS!
