The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland that sits at the base of our necks that, essentially, controls our metabolism. In addition to feeling tired here are 3 symptoms that may suggest an underactive thyroid: 1.Weight gain despite no change in diet or exercise patterns. 2. Feeling cold all the time when you never used to. And 3. Changes to your skin, hair and nails. The skin becoming more clammy and “doughy” and the hair and nails becoming more brittle. If you have been experiencing these symptoms it may be time to check in with your doctor. Dr. Mark Savant is a General Internist.
