Recently diagnosed with underactive thyroid
I have been on youtube for about 10 months now, always a journey to adopt a healthy lifestyle and lose weight. With so much going on and falling ill I was not ready to find out that I have hypothyroid. From painful days, anxiety and now where I am… knowing whats wrong and knowing I now need to adapt. Source info: What causes thyroid disease? There are several different causes of thyroid disease. The following conditions cause hypothyroidism: Thyroiditis is an inflammation of the thyroid gland. This can lower the amount of hormones produced. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is a painless disease of the immune system that is hereditary. Postpartum thyroiditis occurs in 5 percent to 9 percent of women after giving birth. It is usually a temporary condition. Iodine deficiency is a problem affecting approximately 100 million people around the world. Iodine is used by the thyroid to produce hormones. Although prevalent before the 1950s in the USA, iodine deficiency has been virtually wiped out by the use of iodized salt. A non-functioning thyroid gland affects one in 4000 newborns. If the problem isn’t corrected, the child will be physically and mentally retarded. The following conditions cause hyperthyroidism: With Graves’ disease, the entire thyroid gland might be overactive and produce too much hormone. This problem is also called diffuse toxic goiter (enlarged thyroid gland). Nodules might be overactive within the thyroid. A single nodule is called toxic autonomously functioning …

hope it goes well dear
more in the back of my head
My doctor gave me something called Lugol’s Strong Iodine for my low thyroid. I asked and he didn’t know exactly how much iodine was in each drop, but said to take two per day. How much is in one drop? A quick Google search seemed to indicate there were about 6mg per drop. This seems like way moer than found in sea vegetables, the highest source of iodine in the world.
hi i just wanna ask do u ever experienced tremors due to taking synthroid???
Thyroid disease has become epidemic, due to our stressful lives and ill-conceived diets. Soy, in particular, which is used so widely now, suppresses thyroid function and should be banned in all its forms.
People with underactive thyroid glands who take Synthyroid (thyroxine) should be warned that this drug stimulates osteoclast activity, accelerating bone resorption, and leading to osteoporosis. Natural thyroid medication is available in most countries and is far superior.
damn spit it out

I’m very depressed and very over weight. I have gained a lot of weight and get sick easy and I get the numb arms and legs and I swell. I pray you get well and stay well!
I was recently diagnosed too. I have a 8.5 level, which is very high. I think this is the cause of my weight… The doc said once I go on medication I should drop 40 pounds! Do you think that sounds right?
Me too, my level was 17,7

I was on Levothyroxine for a few years, until it no longer was effective. Went from 50 mc after a year, to 75 Synthroid. Seems my body always wants a little more. I first found I had it when I became so tired in the middle of the day, I almost collapsed. I was walking 2 hours a day and was beginning to gain weight, plus my BP and Chol. went through the roof. Life’s not as it was before I had Hypo, but it’s livable, but now I’ve developed a case of Psoriasis & food allergies, sigh.
you should check out iodoral, its an iodine/iodide suppliment. Its been helping me with my hypothyroidism.
also check out dr janet lang. she deals with nutrient deficiencies and the effects on the thyroid especially with women.
@emeraldvenus theres a book called your bodies many cries for water that might be of interest to you for your psoriasis and allergies. Also, for your hypothyroidism read up on iodine. I started to take iodoral and its been helping me a lot. Even a small dose since i am just starting on it. It could make you brake out in a rash though becuase of bromide in the system. iodine will get that nasty stuff out, but could cause a rash and stuff.
@missAntoiniaSyrene get some iodoral, its iodine/iodide. 12.5 mg start out with one pill a day and see how it goes! Eventually add another one like after lunch. Take your time with it though. It has a detox effect of sorts.
OMG I have the same syptoms and the doctor said my thyroid was fine. Did you have palpatations of the heart.? Just curious I have the same prob.
i completely feel your pain hon… i am almost 21 years old ann i have felt this way since i can remember and it is terrible. it is ok to vent about this, it is a huge part of who you are now and it is scary. if you ever need to talk just message me and i will respond as soon as i can….
@kekedj214 you need to go get checked out by another doc hon cuz heart palpitations is one of the side effects of hypothyroidism… if you have any questions i will do my best to help. good luck and dont give up on finding out what is goin on with your body…
