You are going through was so many of us go through--having clear symptoms of a thyroid problem, yet a doctor who makes a lab test more important than your symptoms. Check out this page of thyroid symptoms and see if you have more than a few: http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/long-and-pathetic If you do, demand the right tests, which are here: http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/recommended-labwork and learn how to really read them, here: http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/lab-values Thyroid patients have learned that we have to be informed and guide our doctors, because if we don't, they tend to keep us sick. :(

And also learn from this: http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/things-we-have-learned because there are better labs, better medications, and more that many doctors don't get.

When I was diagnosed hypothyroid, my doc said it's normal for it not to show up in a blood test. So she had me take my temperature under my arm every morning (before you do anything, even get out of bed) for ten days or so. My morning temp was really high, and that's how she diagnosed me. Maybe you should ask your doctor if this is something you should try?

I don't know anything about kelp, sorry.
