He looks like a freak.

--------

It's not "CHRONIC FATIGUE" it is "MYALGIC ENCEPHALOMYELITIS" and it is a much more serious condition than what these people are trying to make out. Whoever reads this, I implore to go and do some real research on this condition, please Google "A hummingbirds guide to M.E." and against all odds, stay away from garbage DISINFORMATION about this condition as it only harms the people who are seriously affected by the 'true' condition M.E.

I have Graves disease, went from Hyper to Hypothyroidism. I am on T4 only but my labs ( although in normal range, barely) is dragging the bottom. My FT3 is 2.1 range 2.---4.4 TSH 3.68 range 0.270---4.2 ... FT4 is in the mid range of normal. My Reverse T3 is very high 320 range 9------350 ratio 6.5 should be 20> Can you advise me of what to do? I feel like Heck and no one will help me. Endo brushes me off. Suffered for 4 yrs, post RAI.

@1stAlixen Me too, me too! Unable to work since 2004, family history of thyroid issues and labs as only diagnosis method. Horrendous. I want my life back, my kids want their mom back.

This man really needed an interviewer who "got it."

"Hypothyroidism...the thyroid being out of whack..."

No. Hypothyroidism is characterized by an underactive thyroid. HyPER thyroidism is overactive. Both are "out of whack."

"So Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is a symptom of hypothyroidism."

No. CFS is CFS, while chronic fatigue often accompanies hypothyroidism.

Finally...

The doctor's DIAGNOSIS is "antidepressants"?

At least the Doc was smart, but really. This was painful to listen to.

Any idea what might cause hypothyroidism? Also, is hypothyroidism more common in some countries than in others and if so, why?

I'm going to be tested in a week. I've had every problem in the book regarding thyroid symptoms, and my mom has this problem. I'd love to buy his book.

no idodine is not - as you have found out...
make sure you are getting ENOUGH thyroxine - [sadly the TSH scale is not enough really for testing]
you'll find your hair slowly grows back...
my hair loss grew back slightly wavy after being straight before

don't take advice from those who do not understand this deeply
