KSA
Nice.. Thank u
what is thyroid exactly, i suffer from panic attacks and wondering if its worth taking up with my doctor ?
From what i’ve seen on the internet the thyroid is a gland in the neck which releases hormones to control the rate of your metabolism and other bodily functions.
If it’s over or underactive and so releases too much or too little of the hormones and one of the symptoms is panic attacks, anxiety and depression (these are symptoms of hyperthydroidism which is when its overactive) so i guess it could be worth talking to your doctor about it.
god i hate the thyroid .. thx for this video,, it was helpful
I just found out today that I have an over active thyroid. Can it be cured?
you didn’t check for the relation between the swelling & the skin or surrounding structure or the tracheal deviation
best see a doctor about it lol
@mrcnblue the best thing is to confirm that there’s no associated malignancy, and then you can control your overactive gland by means of medications as recommended by your doctor.
eg beta blockers, possible antithyroid meds such as carbimazole or propriothyrouracil
By visually examining, and physically palpating the trachea and surrounding structures, I believe she did effectively check for swelling and tracheal deviations.
One question: She mentioned auscultating for thyroid bruits. What pathophysiology would that imply?
My doctor does that to me which is apart of my physical.
This was most helpful with my revision. And that lady is more than welcome 2 examin me any day she was very professional…… and attractive …..
a thyroid mass can compress one of the thyroid arteries… causing a bruit to be heard.
Another possibility is that the increased blood demand of the gland in hyperthyroid goiter can generate increased flow, causing a bruit to be heard.
@kiashamed yeeeee lololololol
shes got sum tig ol’ bitties
Thanks
This came up on my OCSE finals, and I aced it. Thanks Dr. Michelle Downie, I LOVE YOU.
Very complete. Pemberton’s sign and character of phonation would be my only additions.
when auscultating over the thyroid gland isn’t the patients meant to hold their breath in end expiration? …..”hold your arms up like a chicken” - i’m so using that phrase! haha
That doctor is hot.
she’s a pretty young doctor, probsbly late 20’s. when you look at schooling, what is it? 2 years pre med, 4 years med, 4 years residency?
videos like this help me fall asleep, but not out of boredom. you alll know what i mean, come on.
Nice shade of green.
